Breaking Point

While on their way to the Promise Land, Israel grew impatient with God and complained again, even after they had seen Him provide time after time miraculously. Moses got angry with Israel and struck a rock instead of speaking to it as God instructed. Water came from the rock and quieted Israel, but Moses allowed Israel to make him sin against God and stop him from entering the land of promise.

“Now there was no water for the community, and the people gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron. They quarreled with Moses and said, “If only we had died when our brothers fell dead before the Lord!” Numbers 20:2-3

I think I would be tempted to lose control at this point as well. Moses let his anger get the best of him. He allowed others behavior rob him of the opportunity to go into the Promise Land!

“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”” Numbers 20:12

No one can take your promises and blessing from God except you! That’s what came to my mind as I read this. Moses’ focus was on the people not God. How often do I let people’s behavior steal my attitude and blessings? Great leadership is always under control and levelheaded.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7

When you’re pushed to the limit of your patience, remember how patient God has been with you and refocus on where God is leading you not on the present situation. Take a moment when your mind is boiling and align your thinking don’t let others steal opportunities and blessing from you.
